MOUSEOFF® Econobait Emergency Permit Approved

APVMA approves ACTA emergency permit for MOUSEOFF® Econobait:

By Jamie Dennison

Managing Director Professor Linton Staples of Animal Control Technologies Australia is pleased to announce that the APVMA has approved an emergency permit to produce MOUSEOFF® Econobait for Qld, NSW, Victoria and SA.

With mice currently feeding on a million Hectares of crop across four states we are seeing unprecedented requests for MOUSEOFF® ZP to combat the problem.

Prof Staples says with the large demand of MOUSEOFF® ZP required throughout the four states, we have seen nearly over two million hectares of crop being treated, and with this has outstripped the capacity of the Gamma sterilisation plants that we use to treat the grain. This has led ACTA to the develop a NEW registered alternative MOUSEOFF® Econobait based product available NOW under permit to growers in Qld, NSW, VIC and SA.

Prof Staples says the permit allows ACTA to use NON sterilised grain sourced from only those areas for where the permit relates, Prof Staples says that the grain is sourced from highly rust resistant strains of wheat, which is seed grade quality and screened extensively for weed seeds. However, MOUSEOFF® Econobait is NOT sterilised and that all the seeds (whether wheat or weed) can germinate if not consumed by mice. Prof Staples says the Adoption of the ECONOBAIT has to be an informed choice by the user but that full QA is available on each batch.

With the grains that ACTA use for MOUSEOFF® Econobait, by-passing the sterilisation process Prof Staples says that the grower will benefit by up to 15% less in cost with MOUSEOFF® ECONOBAIT available in 125 kg drums and 500kg Bulka bags ONLY. More importantly the ability to manufacture two types of MOUSEOFF® will greatly increase the total supply of bait to all needy farmers in this emergency. The ACTA plant is running 7 days per week to get bait to farms as quickly as possible and Prof Staples says that, while his team of 38 staff is tired, they will continue the battle until the mice are extinguished.
